Massage Therapy Techniques
Snow Massage Therapy offers the following massages:Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is specifically designed to relax muscles. Deep pressure rubs to muscles and bones move towards the heart enhancing circulation and oxygen flow in blood and helps to rid toxins in muscles.Swedish Massage helps in recovery from muscle sprains by flushing body tissues of lactic and uric acids and other metabolic wastes. Swedish Massage makes ligaments and tendons more flexible through stretching, and some techniques stimulate the skin and nervous system to reduce emotional and physical stress.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release provides sustained pressure into restrictions in fascial connective tissues to eliminate pain and restore motion. Fascia is a single structure covering and penetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. Fascia also plays a critical role in supporting our entire bodies.Physical trauma, scarring, or inflammation causes the fascia to lose its pliability. It becomes tight, restricted and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma through whiplash, surgery or just habitual poor posture over time and repetitive stress injuries can cause fascia to exert excessive pressure producing pain or restriction of motion. Such conditions affect our flexibility and stability, and are a major factor in our ability to withstand stress and strain. Fascia responds to heat, pressure and time, all of which are incorporated in Myofascial Release.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive system of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system (brain, spinal column and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system. NMT is based on neurological laws that explain how the central nervous system maintains homeostatic balance. These same laws dictate how the central nervous system initiates pain response.Neuromuscular Therapy addresses the root causes of problems in the central nervous system by relieving pressure points, restoring chemical balances and body alignment, particularly in the neck.
Tui Na
Tui Na (pronounced tuna) is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is a 2,000-year old manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, tai chi and qigong. Tui Na is a hands-on body treatment using acupressure to bring the body into balance. Trough the stimulation of acupressure points, Tui Na can treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions.Tui Na is subdivided into specialized treatment for infants, adults, orthopedics, traumatology, cosmetology, rehabilitation, sports medicine, etc. Tui na has fewer side effects than modern drug-based and chemical-based treatments. It has been used to treat or complement the treatment of many conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders and chronic stress-related disorders of the digestive, respiratory, and reproductive systems.
